As active members in the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise we bring an awareness to the process that enables us to work productively in a multi-disciplinary environment. Our involvement begins with an assessment of both financial and interpersonal/cultural aspects of the subject company to determine appropriate approaches given the family’s business and personal objectives. Thereafter we:
- Provide an independent and fair assessment of value
- Facilitate negotiations between family members
- Establish transaction structures that meet the requirements of all parties to the transaction
- Assist in raising financing where required
- Work with the client's legal counsel and tax advisors to establish the most tax effective means of transitioning with ownership and reflect appropriately the intent of the remaining owners within the shareholders agreement
- Work collaboratively to ensure that the transition proceeds smoothly
- Assist in documentation and closing
